Come To Me

  Human beings have straying hearts.  Human beings have hungry hearts.  Human beings love new and love old.  Human beings innovate, stumble on things but reflect and reminisce about past victories or good family memories.

  I came across the song We'll Meet Again.  I heard someone on YouTube playing it on a 1939 Hammond organ so I looked up the singer and found her.  She is Vera Lynn and she passed away in 2000 at 103 years young.

There is a video of her performing the song for British troops and the connection is palpable.  There is very little in the world that connects people truly.  The history of the world is connection, disconnection and reconnection.

 There are times when we feel a connection and we wonder where it could lead if anywhere.  Then we are surprised to find that the next encounter isn't the same and the connection was lost.

 There are times when I connected with people because of music but outside of it there is no connection.  Sometimes people just like you but you don't know why and sometimes you just like other people but you don't know why.

 How much of our lives are spent making sure to impress other people?  Those who refuse to play that part of their humanity usually end up living boring pathetic lives.  You have to impress other people so that you can know what to do and to push yourself to some limit or to find out where your personality takes you and how far you can go and live with your situation.  I don't know anyone who lives solely to themselves.

 In grade school you should impress your instructors.  At work you should impress your boss and compete with your co-workers until they are impressed or until you become impressed with them.

 God gave us the sense of competitiveness and through it we find success or at least a standard by which to judge how we are doing with our lives.

 Usually in my experience, it's that competitiveness that leads to the deepest connection with other people.
